Mechem's top films of 2013

In no particular order, here are my top films for 2013.

If you're stuck for films to see over xmas, then try to venture out/stream these picks as I really think they are the best movies of 2013.

1. Gravity

For being the first film to use 3D not as a gimmick, but to increase the tone and message of the movie. Plus, it's pretty damn good too.

2. Blackfish

It may be one-sided, and there may be a lot of 'bandwagon jumping' at the moment on social media, but it's a great doc that does what a doc should. Jaw-droppind and revealing. No more Sea World for the Mechem family.

3. Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa

Finally, a British TV movie that isn't Kevin and Perry-esque. Also, funniest film of the year.

4. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

The return of the king.

5. Filth

The other great novel adaption of the year, with a great turn by Prof X.

If you're looking for a movie for your kids, then Smurfs 2 was absolutely the best kids film of the year! Enjoy that over xmas!

Hon. mentions too to Iron Man 3 and This Is The End.

Dud of the year? Without a shadow of a doubt it's 'The World's End'. Total rubbish.
